Sand is the New Paper

Urban/Eco artist Gunilla Klingberg has truly got this beach printing lark all wrapped up. I can imagine the fanciest beaches around the world taking a cue from this idea. It all reminds me a little of a pair of sneakers I wore as a teen, which had patterns and a logo embossed on the sole.

Imagine the fun we could all have with designing our own rubber soles? Instead of free advertising for global corporations, we could pepper the beaches of the world with something a little more edgy. Maybe some art or doodles, quotes, personal manifestos, anything you’d like the world to see. Of course the police would probably treat it just like chalk graffiti and arrest everyone for walking

A Maccy D. Paper Tree

New York-based Japanese artist Yuken Teruya –  known for his amazingly intricate loo roll art has taken things a stage further with this incredibly detailed miniature tree cut from a single McDonald’s paper bag. Entitled ‘Notice-Forest: What Victory Tastes Like/ London‘ – the piece will be shown at a new group exhibition at David Smith Gallery in Denver.

Acrylic Lips by Hubert de Lartigue

French artist Hubert de Lartigue began in packaging design in the 80s before moving to illustration. Most of his work was mainly focused on pin-ups, and he created several sci-fi magazine covers and role playing game illustrations. Since 2003 he started painting in acrylic on canvas in larger formats and ultra hyperreal style. Currently living in Paris his main gallery is in New York at the Bernarducci-Meisel-Gallery.

All the money spent on bike sharing schemes in so many cities around the world, it’d make sense for hotter countries to follow Izhar’s lead. So what if your bike was stolen? Hope You’re Happy Wall Street

On Wednesday as the Las Vegas desert sun rose, shocked commuters witnessed the full effect of the Occupy movement with the aid of a mystery street artist, a pair of mannequins, some rope, and a death defying climb up two overhead billboards on the freeway in Clark County. Here’s a perturbing take on the situation via Occupy Las Vegas who first reported the story.

“Clark County has the second highest rate of adult suicide in the country right now. It has the fifth highest rate of child suicide. And, thanks to the governor’s draconian education budget, the Social Work programs that used to supply volunteers and interns to help such people have been de-funded. The Clark County suicide hotline number is “not in service at this time.” Nevada has the highest sustained unemployment of any state in the U.S. with almost no real hope in sight and politicians more concerned with corporate campaign donations than they are helping the middle class & poor.“

Argentine creative Alvarez Ortega Bianchi aka Cucacolor comes up with some of the craziest and most visually infectious imagery around.
